LAKE COUNTY — The diagnoses are positive for the three survivors of Saturday”s triple-fatal car crash, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer said Tuesday.
“The prognosis is good with all three expected to live,” Officer Kory Reynolds said in a statement.
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. Saturday on Highway 29 near Twin Lakes when the driver of a northbound BMW sedan lost control for unknown reasons and the car skidded into the opposite lane, where it struck a southbound Ford SUV, according to the CHP.
All three passengers in the BMW were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 50-year-old Michael Wright of Hidden Valley Lake, remains in serious but stable condition, Reynolds said.
Steven Beyer, 53, of Clearlake, who was driving the Ford, is also listed as serious but stable while his passenger, 54-year-old Lezley Beyer, remains in serious condition, Reynolds said.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and alcohol was not a factor, according to CHP reports.
Reynolds said officers are trying to contact the drivers to shed some light on how the crash happened.
