LAKEPORT — The third annual Celebrity Lip Sync, “Syncing With The Stars” will be presented by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce on April 14 and 15 at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre in Lakeport.
More than 70 community members come together to perform in two dozen acts. Featured songs will come from Broadway and movie musicals with a variety of music and acts.
Special VIP tables for six are available at the stage front and sides for $300 per table and will come with wine and appetizers. All other seats cost $20 per ticket.
Chamber Director and Events Chair Jeanette Bartley said that “all 2011 shows were sold out and we expect 2012 will see the same response. All through the year, people comment on what fun they have at this community production.”
Co-directors this year are Diana Schmidt and John Tomlinson. Sarah Dutra and Schmidt are lead choreographers.
The committee consists of Jeanette Bartley, Barbara Clark Barbara Juchert Chamber Ambassador Chair and Chamber CEO Melissa Fulton. Jan Parkinson, who brought the idea to the chamber, is on the committee again this year. “Without her we would never have had this great idea, which has brought so much enjoyment to all of us, both on stage and off, Fulton said.
A casting call will be held at the Soper-Reese at 6 p.m. on Jan. 26.
All former participants who haven”t signed up yet are invited to attend and also members of the public who would like to check out the lip sync.
Bartley wants everyone to know that while a potential list of songs has been compiled, people who have a favorite Broadway or movie musical number should attend the casting call. “Nothing is set in concrete yet on all the songs and our excellent choreographers come up with wonderful ideas for how numbers can be presented, costuming suggestions and other tips to make it all work,” Bartley said.
Makeup and hair assistance is provided in the actor”s tent for the performances. Lyle Coburn of the One Stop Party Shop and Janice Hornby of Skin Fitness, who did the actors makeup last year will be on hand again. Hair dressers who would like to assist with the lip sync are sought.
Volunteers are needed to assist with backstage duties, in the actor”s tent and a myriad of other activities.
“One thing we can promise,” Bartley said, “you will have fun if you join us.”
