LAKE COUNTY — The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather advisory as a series of storms makes its way into the interior of Northern California. The storm pattern, which reached Lake County Wednesday afternoon, is expected to continue through early next week with the strongest waves anticipated today.

Rainfalls into Friday morning are expected to range from a half an inch to 2 inches in some areas. More rain chances are expected Friday night into Saturday and again Sunday. Rainfalls amounts with the weekend systems are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches through Sunday.

The weather service forecasts 3 to 6 inches of snow at elevations above 1,000 feet. Snow levels were expected to rise by Wednesday afternoon to 1,500 to 2,000 feet. According to the weather service, 10 to 24 inches of snow is possible by afternoon today in elevations above 3,000 feet.
