CLEARLAKE OAKS — A vehicle stop conducted by a Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) deputy Thursday resulted in two arrests and the discovery of methamphetamine, a glass meth pipe and marijuana, a department spokesman said.

The deputy was on active patrol in Clearlake Oaks at 8:13 p.m. Thursday when he stopped a vehicle on Keys Boulevard near Sixth Street, according to LCSO Sgt. Steve Brooks.

Authorities identified the driver as David Wayne Christensen, 55, of Clearlake Oaks and the passenger as Kristen Cook Weiss, 22, of Lucerne.

The deputy reportedly smelled marijuana coming from inside the car, and Christensen allegedly pulled a small bag of pot from his pocket and showed it to the officer, Brooks said.

The deputy also learned that Weiss was on felony probation and a subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of a small bag of methamphetamine and a meth pipe, which Weiss and Christensen denied ownership of, Brooks said.

Brooks added that Weiss was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

Both occupants were arrested and transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.

Christensen was charged with possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

Weiss was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance, probation violation, possessing a controlled substance and having drug paraphernalia.

The LCSO continues its efforts to eradicate narcotics from the communities of Lake County and seize the suspected profits of drug trafficking for asset forfeiture whenever possible. Anyone with information to assist the Narcotics Task Force can call the anonymous tip line at 263-3663.
