I want to extend a thank you to Deb Baumann for writing a letter to the editor regarding Norm Benson”s Jan. 17 column on the Green Scene page of the Record-Bee. I had composed a letter, not nearly as clever, protesting his stance on organic and locally grown foods.
I do wonder when I see his columns, why he is on the green page, as usually I think he is anything but.
Readers would be better served and better informed with columns more appropriate to the green scene, say from those involved in local food programs, and local farmers and growers who have invaluable first-hand experience and information to share on the true value of purchasing fresh, locally-grown and organic food.
