KELSEYVILLE — Max Huff sank a pair of free throws with three seconds remaining to lift the Kelseyville Knights to a come-from-behind 72-71 North Central League I victory over the Lower Lake Trojans on Tuesday night in Kelseyville.

Lower Lake (0-7 league, 0-17 overall) went up 71-70 with 12 seconds left on a Jeff Davis layup.

Kelseyville (6-1, 15-4) called a timeout and then a second timeout after moving the ball across midcourt. Dustin Thaxton, who already had seven 3-pointers and 23 points on the night, missed a shot that Huff rebounded. He went right back up with the ball and was fouled.

“It was a good foul,” Kelseyville coach Scott Conrad said. “Max was going to score if they didn”t foul him.”

Huff came through by sinking his 23rd and 24th points of the night.

Lower Lake missed a long 3-pointer as time expired.

“We did what we had to do in the last 12 seconds,” Kelseyville coach Scott Conrad said.

Wyatt Ferrell turned in a strong game for the Knights with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

“He had a great game,” Conrad said. “He got us some important points in the third quarter when we were looking a little lackadaisical.”

Jesse Meldrum”s 18 points, Zane Kazaka”s 16 and Alphonzo Daniels” 12 paced the Trojans, who were red-hot from the field all night, according to Conrad. In fact, the Trojans had 10 3-pointers to Kelseyville”s seven.
