LAKEPORT — The Lakeport Redevelopment Agency (RDA) board met for likely the last time Tuesday, with entities across California set to close next week.
With the recent court decision upholding the state government”s ability to abolish local redevelopment, the Lakeport RDA and others statewide are scheduled to shut down effective Feb. 1 — unless state lawmakers pass legislation soon to extend the deadline.
City council members, who also sit on the Lakeport RDA board of directors, held a special meeting Tuesday evening at City Hall and passed a resolution as part of the process to wind down redevelopment activities.
The move established an updated Enforceable Obligation Payment Schedule (EOPS), which is required by the law that eliminated redevelopment.
The EOPS lists Lakeport RDA debts, which include bonds, personnel costs and outstanding contracts.
