LAKE COUNTY — An early morning pursuit ended with the arrest of Jose Carlos Iniguez, 39, of Nice, after he lost control of his vehicle, which rolled end over end on Westlake Drive.

On Tuesday at approximately 2 a.m., Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) deputies were responding to a report of a home invasion robbery in Upper Lake. It was reported that the suspects involved in the robbery left in a vehicle, but the victim did not see the vehicle and was unable to provide a description.

A LCSO sergeant, who was responding to the robbery, noticed a vehicle traveling southbound on Lakeshore Boulevard at a high rate of speed.

The sergeant reportedly temporarily lost sight of the vehicle and thought it had pulled off on a side street. He began searching the area with the assistance of the Lakeport Police Department (LPD). As the patrol sergeant was traveling northbound on Lakeshore Boulevard near Miramonte Way, he located the vehicle ahead of him.

The vehicle was identified as a silver Chevy Impala. As the sergeant caught up to the vehicle, it crossed over the double-yellow line and was allegedly traveling approximately 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. The sergeant attempted an enforcement stop near the Hill Road East intersection.

Iniguez reportedly slowed down, but then continued northbound on Lakeshore Boulevard and then accelerated to approximately 80 mph and ran the stop sign at the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff, crossing onto Westlake Drive. Iniguez turned off the vehicle”s lights and accelerated to approximately 90 mph, driving in the opposite lane of traffic through a left turn. He lost control of the vehicle and drove off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle went up an embankment and rolled end-over-end, coming to rest upside down on the roadway.

Iniguez exited the passenger side door and ran southbound on Westlake Drive. Moments later he was apprehended and taken into custody. Iniguez was booked at the Lake County Hill Road Facility on charges of evading a peace officer, violating the conditions of his parole, driving while under the influence and driving without a license. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation of the crash.
