LAKEPORT — A judge Friday granted a prosecution request to delay the trial of a Nice resident accused of stabbing two men at a Lakeport gas station last spring.

Ronald James Blesio, 35, remains in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility. He has pleaded not guilty to six felonies and has denied several special allegations in the case.

Authorities allege Blesio stabbed two men during a fight at the Shell gas station in Lakeport during the early morning hours of June 12.

He reportedly remained at large until Oct. 23, when a Lake County Sheriff”s Office sergeant located him while conducting a traffic stop in Kelseyville.

Blesio”s trial was set to start next week, but the prosecution filed a motion asking for a continuance because a new prosecutor is being assigned to the case.

The defense opposed the request, wanting the proceedings to begin Wednesday as scheduled.

Judge Richard C. Martin found good cause on Friday to continue the trial for two weeks to allow the new attorney time to become familiar with the case.

The trial is now set for Feb. 16.
