LAKE COUNTY — Senior Deputy District Attorney Susan Krones announced her candidacy for Judge in Lake County Superior Court, Department 1.
Krones began her legal career as a U.S. Army Judge Advocate General. She was first stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco, where she was a prosecutor and a medical boards attorney. She moved to Stuttgart, Germany, working initially in the Trial Defense Service before moving on to the Civil Division and helped soldiers with wills, separation agreements and other civil matters.
Krones first arrived in Lake County in July 1992 as a Deputy District Attorney for the Lake County Family Support Division. In 1996, she transferred to the Criminal Division, a job she still holds. During her time with the Criminal Division, she has prosecuted a variety of cases, including domestic violence, child molestation and general felonies. She has also worked in the Juvenile Court system as well.
Krones grew up in Berkeley. She attended UCLA, graduating Cum Laude with a bachelor”s degree in history. She obtained a law degree at Hastings Law School in San Francisco, graduating in 1984. During her time at law school, she served as a clerk at the U.S. Attorney”s Office in San Francisco for two years. She also served as a legal research clerk for a California Appeals Court Judge for one semester.
Krones is married with one adult step-son. She is active in various community organizations, including the Lake County Arts Council, Lake County Theater Company and Lake County Community Radio.
Krones said she would be proud to continue her service to the county as a Superior Court Judge of Department 1.
