LAKE COUNTY — Lakeport attorney Judy F. Conard announced her candidacy for Judge in Lake County Superior Court, Department 1.
Conard has operated a private practice in Lakeport since she and her late husband, Evan, moved to the county almost 20 years ago.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, San Diego and attended law school while teaching middle school in San Diego.
Conard received her law degree from Western State University College of Law in San Diego and took the bar exam in July 1985.
She then began working for the San Diego City Attorney”s Office as a prosecutor and later headed up the department”s child abuse unit before leaving to start a private practice for civil and criminal defense in the area.
Conard and her husband relocated to Lake County in 1993, and she established a Lakeport practice at that time. She opened an office in Ukiah in 2004.
Her general practice office in Lakeport, located at 405 N. Main St., currently handles more civil and family law cases than criminal matters.
Conard and her husband lived in Lakeport, Kelseyville and Lower Lake. She moved back to Lakeport in 2009, approximately three years after Evan died.
Conard volunteers at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre, remains active in the Rotary Club of Kelseyville Sunrise, and sits on the boards of the Lake County Friends of Mendocino College and the Friends of Taylor Observatory.
Her son and his family live in Healdsburg.
