NICE — John Hathaway, who owns The Woodpecker on East Highway 20, saw his craftsmanship featured in a San Francisco art gallery last month and praised the efforts of the exhibit”s creators.

“It”s an interesting display,” he said. “From an artist”s standpoint, I thought it was well done.”

The Woodpecker acted as a movie set during fall 2010 when Francis Ford Coppola and his crews filmed in Lake County while creating “Twixt,” which in turn became the subject of an artistic exhibition at FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco.

Hathaway attended the exhibit”s opening on Jan. 13. He said about 40 birdhouses and bat houses from his shop were part of the showing.

The exhibition, titled “TWIXT sc. 83,” is an art installation that recreates a climactic scene from the Oscar-winning director”s newest movie.

The film, which stars Val Kilmer, Elle Fanning and Bruce Dern, has reportedly been shown at several festivals but has not received a wide release to date.

FIFTY24SF Gallery is located at 218 Fillmore St. in San Francisco. The exhibit is set to close Feb. 15. For more information, visit www.fifty24sf.com/home-2/.
