LOWER LAKE — Lower Lake is in the win column … finally.

Jeff Davis scored 12 points and Richard Tucker pulled down a big defensive rebound with seconds remaining to seal the Trojans” 45-43 victory over the visiting Fort Bragg Timberwolves in North Central League I varsity boys” basketball action on Tuesday night.

It was the first win of any kind for the Trojans after their 0-18 start this season and the victory snapped a 19-game losing streak dating back to the final game last season. Lower Lake is now 1-8 in league and 1-18 overall. Fort Bragg is 2-7 in league play.

The game was close the entire way. It was 9-8 Fort Bragg after one quarter, 24-22 Timberwolves at the half and 34-34 after three quarters.

“Both teams played real sloppy, but I”ll take the win,” Lower Lake coach David Graham said.

Lower Lake had a 44-40 lead with 1:20 remaining. Fort Bragg hit a 3-pointer to close to one but Tucker drew a foul with 20 seconds left and hit one of two free throws to make it 45-43.

Fort Bragg missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds as Tucker came down with the rebound. Lower Lake was able to run out the clock before the Timberwolves could draw a foul.

“It was a pretty good looking shot,” Graham said of Fort Bragg”s 3-point try. “I was just happy we got the rebound. I couldn”t believe it.”

Jesse Meldrum had eight points for the Trojans.
