LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Wine Alliance board of directors is seeking applications from nonprofit groups interested in receiving a share of the 2012 Lake County Wine Auction proceeds.

The deadline for county organizations to apply for funding is March 1.

Groups can obtain applications by visiting the Wine Alliance website, www.winealliance.org, or contacting beneficiaries committee chair Judy Luchsinger at 263-3280 or judy@isoqed.com.

The Wine Alliance said it has contributed nearly $900,000 in proceeds to county groups since the charity event began in 2000.

Last year, 18 nonprofit organizations (including agencies, high schools, programs and senior centers) received $65,000 in proceeds from the event held in September at Ceago Vinegarden.

Proceeds include ticket sales, sponsorship donations, live and silent auction income, reserve wine purchases and special edition art sales.

The Wine Alliance said area wineries, wine grape growers, restaurants, businesses and individuals have been generous supporters of the event by donating to the auctions and providing food, beverages and sponsorships.

The Wine Alliance”s charter directs its efforts to foster the arts, benefit health services and support the community while promoting Lake County as a leading grape growing and fine wine region.

The Wine Alliance is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization of county wineries, wine grape growers, and business and community supporters.

Members of the Wine Alliance board are: president Kaj Ahlmann of Lower Lake, vice president Luchsinger of Lakeport, secretary Sharron Zoller of Kelseyville, treasurer Rob Roumiguiere of Kelseyville, and directors Marie Beery of Kelseyville, Bill Groody of Kelseyville and Wilda Shock of Lakeport.

Honorary chairman of the 2012 Wine Auction is Jerry Brassfield, proprietor of Brassfield Estate Winery in Clearlake Oaks, where the 13th annual event will be held Sept. 15.
