SAN JOSE — More than 111 million television viewers tuned in to watch Super Bowl XLVI between the New York Giants and New England Patriots on Sunday. Gabe Freeman of Clearlake wasn”t one of them.
Freeman, 12, passed on the most-watched event in television history to compete in the Santa Clara Wrestling Association Championship on Sunday, and he didn”t come away disappointed … or empty-handed.
A member of the Lake County Wrestling Club, also know as the Kelseyville Krush, the fourth-year wrestler went 5-0, including three pins and a 10-1 decision, to win his weight class. One of his pins came in 19 seconds.
Now 32-4 on the season with more than 20 pins, Freeman hits the road this weekend to compete in the St. Valentine”s Massacre tournament in Vacaville.
