LAKE COUNTY — An earthquake struck Northern California near the Sonoma-Lake county border Sunday evening.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude 4.3 quake struck at approximately 8:47 p.m. with an epicenter approximately three miles east of The Geysers, three miles southwest of Cobb, three miles northwest of Anderson Springs, 15 miles east of Cloverdale and 24 miles north of Santa Rosa.

The quake was shallow according to the USGS, striking just 0.2 miles beneath the Earth”s surface. A USGS shake map estimated the quake produced “light” shaking for the southwestern portions of the county, with “light” to “weak” shaking for much of the rest of the county and eastern Sonoma County.

A few minor aftershocks occurred shortly after the initial quake, none of which was greater than a magnitude of 2, according to USGS. No damage from the quake has been reported thus far.
