LAKEPORT — A structure fire at Sterling Shores Mobile Estates in Lakeport destroyed one home Tuesday. According to Lakeport Fire District (LFD) Chief Ken Wells, the fire was first reported at approximately 7:10 p.m. in Unit 18. Wells said 106-year-old resident Freda Moore was home at the time and was able to escape the home unharmed with help from a neighbor. Two dogs died from smoke inhalation.
Two engines from LFD, one from Kelseyville Fire District and one from Northshore Fire Protection District responded. Wells said the fire was believed to be caused by a heating pad in the living room after Moore said she noticed flames beginning to burn. The fire did not spread to other surrounding homes and was contained by 7:51 p.m.
