KELSEYVILLE — A dry spell at the end of the third quarter cost Middletown a lead it had held most of the game, but the Mustangs rallied to beat Kelseyville 39-35 in a North Central League I junior varsity girls” basketball game Friday at Kelseyville.

“Four weeks ago we wouldn”t have won that game,” Middletown coach Anthony Bazzano said of the improved play of his Mustangs of late, “but they kept their heads in the game and battled back.”

Trailing 24-21 entering the fourth quarter, the Mustangs would outscore the Knights 18-11 in the final period.

Nicole Corsetti scored a season-best 19 points, 12 in the second half, to rally Middletown (8-4 league, 15-9 overall).

“She”s just a workhorse who has only been playing basketball for a year,” Bazzano said. “She started playing last year at the eighth-grade level and is still figuring things out, but she came through tonight when we needed her. She has a nose for the ball.”

Corsetti also pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double, one of two for the Mustangs in the win. Teammate Allegra Macedo also did it, scoring 12 points and grabbing a team-high 17 rebounds. Alisha Bell added five points and eight rebounds.

Amanda Ahart”s 12 points paced Kelseyville and Lynette Santiago added nine points.
