CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police Department (CPD) officers arrested seven people Sunday while investigating a reported residential burglary.
Officers responded to the reported burglary in progress at a home located at the corner of Lasky and Davis avenues, according to CPD Sgt. Rodd Joseph. A witness at the scene stated the suspects were last seen going into a home located in the 4000 block of Frye Avenue, Joseph said.
Officers went to the Frye Avenue home and contacted several people inside. Three of the people were allegedly on parole or probation. Officers conducted a parole/probation search of the home.
Joseph said during the search, several of the occupants were allegedly exhibiting symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Five people were arrested on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance: Georgia Walker, 23, of Clearlake; Ashley Buller, 21, of Roseville; Austin Johnson, 19, of Clearlake; Abran Chavez, 24, of Granada Hills; and Johnny Arizmendez, 28, of Clearlake.
Joseph said Chavez was allegedly found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was additionally charged.
Arizmendez was reported to be on probation. Officers conducted a probation search of a parked vehicle allegedly belonging to Arizmendez. According to Joseph, seven grams of suspected methamphetamine, more than 90 dosage units of hydrocodone and a scale were found. Arizmendez was additionally charged with possession of controlled substances for sale and transportation of a controlled substance.
It is alleged Arizmendez is also an active Norte?o criminal street gang member and was additionally charged with participating in a criminal street gang and probation violation.
Joseph said two others were arrested at the home.
Justin Cordero, 27, of Clearlake was reported to be on probation. Cordero was allegedly found in possession of approximately seven grams of suspected methamphetamine. He was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale and probation violation. Cordero is reportedly an active MS13, Sure?o criminal street gang member, according to Joseph.
Nicholas Brooks, 32, of Clearlake Oaks was reported to be on parole. Brooks was allegedly found in possession of approximately two grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and parole violation.
Joseph said the original residential burglary call was determined to be unfounded because the house is a vacant, abandoned residence.
