WILLITS — While the Lower Lake High School varsity girls had a tough time Tuesday night in Willits, it was a different story in the junior varsity game.
Ashly Alexander picked up the coring slack for injured Kayla Meadows and led the Trojans to a 36-31 victory over the Wolverines in North Central League I action.
Having already clinched the undisputed league championship, the Trojans moved a step closer to a perfect NCL I campaign with their 13th win in 13 tries. They can run the table with a win tonight in Kelseyville, the season finale for both teams. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
Alexander had plenty of help against the Wolverines. Shelby Harris scored seven points to go along with six rebounds and three steals, Linda Tuell had seven points and five steals, and Michelle Page had two points, eight rebounds and five steals.

Middletown 44, Cloverdale 26
At Cloverdale, Heather Huston”s 12 points led the offense and big rebounding nights by Nicole Corsetti and Alisha Bell powered the Middletown Mustangs to a league win over the Cloverdale Eagles.
Middletown improved to 9-4 in the NCL I standings and closes out the season tonight at home against Clear Lake at 6 p.m.
“Probably the most complete game we”ve played all year,” Middletown coach Anthony Bazzano said. “The girls played very well.”
Bell had a double-double for the Mustangs as she finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Corsetti led the team with 17 rebounds and also scored six points. Huston had three steals.
Kelseyville 37, Clear Lake 28
At Lakeport, Amanda Ahart scored nine points, Ashley Dunia added eight and Mary McCallister had seven as the Kelseyville Knights beat Clear Lake.
Kelseyville coach Mary Brown also praised the play of center Rayonna Jamsion.
“She had a really good game,” Brown said.
