UPPER LAKE – A traffic stop by Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)-commissioned Robinson Rancheria Police Tuesday ended with two arrests for alleged drug possession.

According to Sgt. John Irwin of the Robinson Rancheria Police Department, the driver, Clifford Funk, 27, of Lakeport displayed signs of being under the influence. Irwin alleged Funk admitted he had recently smoked marijuana. Funk”s driver”s license status was suspended, Irwin said.

Passenger Courtney Palmer, 25, of Lakeport also displayed signs of being under the influence, Irwin said. Palmer also allegedly admitted to recently smoking marijuana.

Irwin said he noticed a glass smoking pipe on the console of the vehicle during the stop. He then conducted a search of the vehicle.

During the search, Funk allegedly admitted to being in possession of marijuana. The search uncovered nine pounds of processed marijuana in a number of different packaging materials, according to Irwin.

Funk and Palmer were arrested on federal charges of possessing and transporting a controlled substance on federal property. Funk is also charged with a misdemeanor for driving on a suspended license.
