CLEARLAKE — A judge Wednesday sentenced a Hidden Valley Lake man to six years, eight months in state prison for a child sex abuse conviction, a Lake County District Attorney”s Office spokesman said.

Frank Joseph Vivero, 21, recently pleaded guilty to one felony count of child rape and one felony count of statutory rape involving a second girl, according to chief deputy district attorney Richard Hinchcliff.

Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) deputies learned of the incidents after responding to Coyote Valley Elementary School in Hidden Valley Lake on April 18 after receiving reports of several children drinking alcohol at the campus, Hinchcliff said.

As deputies arrived at the area, reports came in that a 14-year-old girl was unconscious near the back of the school, he said. Vivero was reportedly detained at the scene.

Hinchcliff said further investigation revealed that Vivero knew the unconscious girl and that she had contacted Vivero the afternoon of April 18 so they could hang out.

The girl and a female friend obtained a bottle of vodka and met Vivero at the school, where the three spent the afternoon drinking, Hinchcliff said.

Investigators were told that Vivero first began kissing one of the intoxicated girls, and then shortly thereafter began having sex with the girl who was found unconscious, Hinchcliff said. Vivero also had intercourse with the other girl at some point, Hinchcliff added.

Hinchcliff alleged that, during a subsequent interview with an LCSO investigator, Vivero admitted to having intercourse with both girls.

Judge Stephen O. Hedstrom sentenced Vivero Wednesday in Clearlake, Hinchcliff said.
