CLEARLAKE — The Clearlake Redevelopment Oversight Board met for its first meeting on Thursday at Clearlake City Hall.

The meeting served as an organizational session setting a foundation for the process to dissolve the Clearlake Redevelopment Agency (RDA).

Mayor Joey Luiz was selected to serve as board chairman and Bill Cornelison, who is a retired superintendent representing Lake County Board of Education, will serve as vice chairman.

Additional members of the board include Clearlake Interim City Administrator Joan Phillipe, who is filling the seat representing staff of the municipality that created the RDA; Lake County Fire Protection District (LCFPD) Chief Willie Sapeta, who represents the largest taxing agency within the redevelopment project area; District 2 Supervisor Jeff Smith, representing the Lake County Board of Supervisors; and Bill Perkins, who is a Clearlake planning commissioner selected to fill the member-at-large seat.

One seat on the board remains unfilled awaiting appointment by the Yuba College Chancellor”s Office.

The board established a regular meeting schedule of 9 a.m. every first Thursday of the month at Clearlake City Hall; however, the board will not meet in March.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 5.

At its next meeting, the board is expected to discuss potential transfer of agency-owned properties including the airport property, Austin Resort, the city”s corporation yard, property adjacent to Highlands Park, city hall and a 29-acre parcel located in the Burns Valley area.

RDA Oversight Board meetings are open to the public and citizens are invited to attend and comment on any item under discussion. Those in need of disability-related accommodations, including auxiliary aids or services, to participate in the meetings, should contact City Clerk Melissa Swanson at 994-8201, ext. 106 at least 72 hours prior to the meeting.
