The Stockholm Syndrome is epidemic and common place in contexts other than kidnapping, and hardly recognized as a widespread pathology, common within media, government and corporate worlds in which most people are effectively kidnapped.

A lot of good people have left government and media positions when discovering the extent to which they were forced (via job position and monetary reason) to deny a truth which distorted significantly their job integrity.

But most side with the kidnapper (employer), illustrating the Stockholm syndrome in this context. When news media and job integrity are compromised in this way, and where bias and censorship becomes a common distorting norm, the public suffers within increasingly dysfunctional systems posing as some authority because of this unrecognized Stockholm Syndrome pathology.
