LAKEPORT — Opening night theater patrons will be treated to a Champagne and pretzel reception immediately following the performance and hosted by Cindy Strong and Laura Sammel, who play lead characters Olive and Florence in Neil Simon”s comedy “The Odd Couple (Female Version).”

The play opens at 7 p.m. Friday at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre on Main Street in Lakeport.

Simon adapted the female version from the original “The Odd Couple” and has changed the male leads to female leads. The lead characters and their women friends all play Trivial Pursuit instead of poker.

The two women are living together in a New York apartment. Olive (Cindy Strong) is a complete slob and Florence (Laura Sammel) is just the opposite, obsessively neat. Their friends try to keep the peace between these two opposites, while working out their own problems.

Olive”s and Florence”s friends include Toni Stewart as Sylvie, Diana Schmidt as Renee, Michele Chapman as Vera and Joan Luke as Mickey the cop.

Timothy Fischer as Manolo Costazuela and James Paton as Jesus Costazuela, the flirtatious brothers who live in the apartment upstairs, come calling at all hours.

Performances take place at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, 7 p.m. March 2 and 3 and 2 p.m. March 4. Tickets cost $18 for reserved seating and $15 general admission with a $3 discount for seniors, students and Lake County Theatre Company members. Tickets may be purchases online at www.soperreesetheatre.com or at the Soper-Reese box office, open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays.
