LAKEPORT — The attorneys seated the Orlando J. Lopez jury Thursday, completing juror selection for the second defendant charged with killing a toddler in Clearlake late last spring.

Lopez, 24, and Paul W. Braden, 21, both of Clearlake Oaks face 15 felonies, including murder, for allegedly shooting into a crowd of people gathered at a home on June 18, killing Skyler Rapp, 4, and injuring five others.

Lopez and Braden have pleaded not guilty to all felony counts and have denied dozens of special allegations. They remain in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.

Both men are standing trial in the same courtroom but have different lawyers and will have separate juries consisting of 12 regular jurors and seven alternates.

Braden”s jury was seated Feb. 10.

Prosecution and defense attorneys are expected to give their opening statements today at the Lake County Courthouse.
