LAKE COUNTY — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) could provide an update midweek about the investigation into the recent traffic incident involving Sheriff Frank Rivero, an agency spokesman said Monday.

Rivero was driving his personal pickup northbound on Highway 29 in Middletown near Wardlaw Street the night of Feb. 20 when a man attempted to cross at the intersection, according to reports from Rivero and the CHP.

Rivero said he proceeded through a green light but didn”t see the pedestrian — later identified as Clinton Turney, 34, of Middletown — enter the road in enough time to stop.

CHP Officer Kory Reynolds said Monday he expects the investigation into the incident to be completed by midweek.

The investigating officer returned to work Monday after nearly a week”s worth of scheduled days off, according to Reynolds.

Reynolds also said he had no new information about the condition of Turney, who reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
