LOWER LAKE — Winning pitcher Amanda Graf went 3-for-3 with a triple and six RBI on Thursday as the Lower Lake Trojans pounded the Elsie Allen Lobos 29-1 in non-league softball action at Lower Lake.
Called after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule, the game was all Lower Lake from the start. The Trojans (2-0) scored 12 times in the bottom of the first and had a 27-0 lead after two innings.
“We got a lot of walks, but when they threw strikes, we hit it,” Lower Lake coach Chris Emberson said of the Trojans” 16-hit day at the plate. “I was really happy with the bats today.”
Graf, a senior, left the game after pitching two innings of one-hit ball. She struck out five and walked two. Freshman Shelbie Harris relieved and worked the final three innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and walking two.
“She”s going to be a good pitcher for us down the road,” Emberson said of Harris.
Graf was one of six Trojans to drive in three or more runs. JoAnna Wakeman went 2-for-2 with a triple and five RBI, Selena Ledesma went 2-for-2 with four RBI, Harris went 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Nicole Spooner went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Graf also scored five times while Spooner and Raelynn Scott (2-for-3) crossed the plate four times apiece.
While the Lower Lake field was pounded by rain Tuesday night and Wednesday, the Lower Lake coaching staff made sure the game would take place by pumping excess water off the field.
“We removed buckets and buckets of water,” Emberson said. “It (field) was actually in pretty good shape by the time the game started.”
Lower Lake returns to action today in Upper Lake and hits the road on Tuesday to play Healdsburg.
