LAKE COUNTY — A California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesman said Thursday the agency now targets next week for the release of investigation results regarding the recent traffic incident involving Sheriff Frank Rivero.

Investigators have been delayed while trying to contact a witness, according to CHP Officer Kory Reynolds, who said three days ago that he anticipated the inquiry would be completed this week.

The CHP hopes to release its findings Monday or Tuesday, Reynolds said.

Rivero was driving his personal pickup northbound on Highway 29 in Middletown near Wardlaw Street the night of Feb. 20 when a man attempted to cross at the intersection, according to reports from Rivero and the CHP.

Rivero said he proceeded through a green light but didn”t see the pedestrian — later identified as Clinton Turney, 34, of Middletown — enter the road in enough time to stop.

Reynolds said Thursday he had no new information about the condition of Turney, who reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
