UPDATED:

Last week there was a Letter to the Editor written by John Ornellas. He was discussing the collapse of Social Security, failure of banking policies and loan criteria, corrupt Wall Street trading, and skyrocketing national debt. His point was that President Obama did not create these issues, he inherited them, that they have been around for decades and he repeatedly stated “Don”t Blame Obama.”

Well, Mr. Ornellas, I agree with you, these issues have been around for decades and President Obama is definitely not to blame. However, President Obama did run on an election platform in 2008 of fixing Washington, that he would address Social Security, banking fraud, Wall Street hypocrisy and the skyrocketing national debt. He said he would do this openly and with full transparency. In his first two years in office he was given a gift every President envies, both house of Congress enjoyed a Democratic majority, a tremendous opportunity to keep his promise to the American people.

Did President Obama initiate, write or support legislation that addressed issues of our broken Social Security program? No, he did not.

Did he initiate, write or support legislation to address the questionable and failed loan industry and banking practices? No, he did not.

Did he consider, initiate, write or support policies looking into Wall Street insider trading, or misappropriation of funding? No, he did not. Or did President Obama stand firm against raising the national debt limit, a move that he himself supported and claimed that raising the debt limit was “Un-American” when he was a Senator? No, he did not.

I did not vote for President Obama, but, I sincerely prayed that his promises of “hope” and “change” were valid.

I have been disappointed.

What we got in place was a health care program initiated and written behind closed doors, and passed with arm-twisting, barters, trades and secret deals.

We got a stimulus package that funneled vast amounts of money, with no strings attached, into the already corrupt banking industry and Wall Street; and the nationalizing of the auto industry. For those things, Mr. Ornellas, President Obama can be blamed.
