LAKE COUNTY — The investigation into a crash involving Sheriff Frank Rivero and a pedestrian is concluded, finding the pedestrian at fault for crossing against the light, a violation of 21456 (B), according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Public Information Officer, Kory Reynolds.
Rivero was driving his personal pickup northbound on Highway 29 in Middletown near Wardlaw Street the night of Feb. 20 when a man attempted to cross at the intersection, according to reports from Rivero and the CHP.
Rivero said he proceeded through a green light but didn”t see the pedestrian, later identified as Clinton Turney, 34, of Middletown, enter the road in enough time to stop.
No action will be taken against Turney. A video of the intersection was assessed as part of the investigation, according to Reynolds.
Turney sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
