LAKEPORT — The Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) took time to recognize some anniversaries Tuesday.
The Girl Scouts of the United States of America first formed 100 years ago. In recognition of the anniversary, the BOS adopted a proclamation honoring county Girl Scouts. District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing presented the proclamation to Deborah Holden, senior director for the North Coast area of Girl Scouts Northern California.
Rushing said she was a Girl Scout as a child. She said she spent a summer at a Girl Scout camp on Spirit Lake in Washington and has lots of memories of that “special place.” The lake is located slightly north of Mount St. Helens and was all-but-destroyed in the 1980 eruption.
The supervisors also recognized county employees for their long terms of service. Employees with five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of county service were honored with a certificate and small gift.
Four employees were honored for 30 years of service: Auditor-Controller Cathy Saderlund, Carol Sewall of the Probation Department, Kenneth Rehard of the Social Services Department and Michael Thompson of Special Districts Administration.
In addition, six employees were honored for 25 years, eight for 20 years, nine for 15 years, 33 employees for 10 years and 54 employees for five years of service.
BOS Chair Rob Brown presented the certificates. He said he was “honored” to have people that have served for so long.
