KELSEYVILLE — K-Town, a hip-hop group made up of three Kelseyville High School graduates, learned late last month it did not advance to “America”s Got Talent” celebrity judging.
“They said we did not make it but we are very talented artists so keep up the good work. They were not really looking for rappers. We gave it our all and I”m proud of what we did,” Taj Dedrick said.
K-Town members Dedrick, brother Jay Dedrick and Cody Morlan auditioned in front of producers for the NBC contest show in Anaheim Dec. 10.
Dedrick said show representatives contacted the group Feb. 25 with the news that K-Town would not be moving on.
“We were somewhat upset but at the same time we felt we accomplished something not many hip-hop artists from Lake County have done,” Dedrick said. “I think it was the best experience.”
The group is now focusing on promoting its latest release, a “mini-CD” with new tracks called “3 Stooges,” according to Dedrick.
K-Town will also headline and serve as a special guest at the Rising Stars competition in Mendocino County later this year, Dedrick said. A new album could also be on the horizon.
