Music will be provided by Saro and Reikor Deacon”s group, “From the Heart.” Hors d”oeuvres will be created and served by the students of the Yuba College culinary arts program. A variety of prizes from community members and businesses will be part of a raffle. The Moore Family Winery has also donated a concert package as the grand door prize.

Tickets cost $15 and are available at The Travel Center in Lakeport, Marie”s Feed in Clearlake and Mt. High Coffee in Hidden Valley and Cobb. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 994-2878. CMAS will use the proceeds from this event to support its annual art and science camp and its fledgling robotics program.

In the last five years more than 600 fourth- through sixth-graders from throughout the county have participated in the science camps.

This year”s camp will take place May 12 at the Ely Stage Stop and the Taylor Observatory. The camp is a collaborative effort with the Lake County Office of Education, the Lake County Historical Society and the Redbud Audubon Society. CMAS has also partnered this year with the Konocti Unified School District to develop a pilot robotics program at Lower Lake Elementary. CMAS has purchased Lego robot kits and student laptops, which are available for classes to use.

CMAS is also offering Saturday workshops with the robot kits on today and March 17 for students from the district”s K-8 schools to become acquainted with the materials and generate discussions as to how robotics experiences can be brought to all district sites.

CMAS is a volunteer nonprofit group with members from throughout the county. Its goal is to provide free hands-on art and science activities and events for the youth of Lake County.
