LAKEPORT — The 21st annual Friends of Mike Thompson Ravioli Dinner continues its efforts toward a zero-waste event. The dinner takes place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. March 31 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, located at 401 Martin St. in Lakeport.

The event features a tasting of wines from the Lake County winegrape growers and music from Public Nuisance.

Free electronic recycling will be available at the event from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Items that can be accepted include cellphones, computers, fax machines and other outdated electronics.

The Computer Recycling Center will give away four newly refurbished Intel Core Duo/Dual Core Windows Desktops, with new keyboard, cables and mouse, and Refurbished LCD flat panel monitor to four nonprofit organizations.

Applicants must bring a letter on the organization”s letterhead, addressed to Steven Wyatt. The letter must include the organization”s 501C3 number and a short explanation as to how the computer will be used by the organization.

Dinner will be served on corn starch and sugar cane plates and utensils. “Our goal is to have the waste generated by the event to be as close to 100-percent recyclable or reusable,” Mary Jane Bowker, campaign events coordinator, said.

Thompson was elected to Congress in 1998. Prior to that time, he represented Lake County for eight years in the State Senate.

Tickets for the pasta dinner cost $20 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door the day of the event. For more information, call Mary Jane Bowker at 226-8989.
