LAKEPORT — With veterans Raul Rendon and Ken Henninger leading the way, the Clear Lake tennis team beat Anderson Valley 4-1 in its season debut Monday in Lakeport.
Rendon and Henninger are the only full-time starters returning to coach Milo Meyer”s squad in 2012.
“The rest played very little or not all last year,” Meyer said.
Rendon beat Drake Mezzanatoo 6-4, 6-2 in first singles while Henninger prevailed 7-5, 7-5 over Colin Van Ree in second singles.
Anderson Valley”s lone win came in third sinlges where Kristen Henderson beat Bundita Kosolcharoen 6-4, 6-2.
Clear Lake swept the doubles matches. Brian Gatton and Nathan Hagberg beat Alondra and Esmeralda Espinosa 6-3, 6-4 in first doubles. In second doubles, Faith Hornby and Serena Kacharos were 6-3, 6-3 winners over Maxence Weyvich and Gabby McDonald.
Anderson Valley”s Alexis Oseguera beat Clear Lake”s Mike Reynolds 6-3 in an exhibition singles match.
Clear Lake”s next scheduled match is Friday at Kelseyville at 3:30 p.m.
