LAKEPORT — A three-car crash on Highway 29 at the intersection with Highland Springs Road Tuesday sent one driver to the hospital with moderate-to-major injuries. According to Officer Erich Paarsch of the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 10:21 a.m. Paarsch said the driver of a white Toyota pickup truck was headed northbound on Highway 29 approaching a red light at Highland Springs Road. A dark blue Mercedes and gray minivan were slowing as they approached the light. Paarsch said the light turned green and the minivan and Mercedes began accelerating. The driver of the Toyota pickup was still slowing when his truck began to slide, according to Paarsch. It was not clear if the driver”s brakes locked up. Paarsch said the pickup collided with the minivan, which was pushed forward and collided with the Mercedes. The driver of the Mercedes appeared to have no injuries and left the scene after providing information. The driver of the minivan suffered moderate-to-major injuries to his back and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the pickup reported minor injuries to his wrist. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles. Drugs and alcohol were not considered a factor in the crash.
