KELSEYVILLE — A tentative agreement was reached Wednesday between the Kelseyville Unified School District (KUSD) and teacher”s union representatives.
Superintendent Dave McQueen said he could not go into the details of the agreement until it is reviewed by both the teacher”s union and the County Office of Education. Following those steps, the agreement will be placed on an agenda for the KUSD Board of Trustees to discuss and put to a vote, he said.
“We”re pleased we were able to reach a tentative agreement,” McQueen said.
Rico Abordo, a representative for the Kelseyville Unified Teacher”s Association, said he was pleased that an agreement was reached. Abordo said the union will discuss the agreement with its bargaining unit at a membership meeting on Tuesday before it is put to a ratification vote on March 22 and 23.
McQueen said the agreement came after a four-hour meeting between a state mediator, district representatives and teacher”s union negotiators at the district office. He said the review process is expected to take a few weeks.
The next KUSD Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for April 17, but McQueen said a special meeting may be scheduled to discuss the agreement sooner if the union and County Office of Education approve it earlier than that.
