LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Horse Council (LCHC) started its second year with an updated website, enhanced journal and calendar of events and its first membership renewal drive.
Special events for 2012 include a “Fiesta of the Horse” on June 30, offering a colorful variety of horse presentations and entertainment inspired by local equestrians and volunteers.
Coming this fall, the council will present the “Renaissance of the Horse” in conjunction with the Kelseyville Pear Festival on Sept. 29. Both venues will be family-oriented and designed for those who want to learn about horses in the community, as well as horse enthusiasts. Each event will include demonstrations and presentations from a multitude of horse breeds and disciplines. Details will be available at www.lakecountyhorsecouncil.com.
The next LCHC general meeting is 6 p.m. April 19 at the Yacht Club in Lakeport, featuring an informational presentation by John Valentine and Peter Windrem on the topic of insurance and liability related to horse keeping. The meeting is free and open to the public.
On May 11, 12 and 13, council members will camp at Stewarts Ranch Horse camp and ride trails at Pt. Reyes National Seashore. Make reservations by calling 415-663-1362.
