LAKE COUNTY — Northshore Fire Protection District (NFPD) responded to an area of Highway 20 near the North Fork Cache Creek Bridge following a report of a vehicle over the embankment at 8:47 a.m. Thursday. The woman driver of the vehicle was ultimately flown via Enloe air ambulance to Enloe Hospital in Chico.
According to a NFPD Battalion Chief, the vehicle was situated about 50 to 80 feet down an embankment upon medics” arrival. Brown said following about a 40-minute extrication effort, which included a rope rescue operation, the woman was brought up the embankment at about 9:37 a.m. She was then prepared for transport to a landing zone established at highways 20 and 16, at the CAL FIRE Station at Wilbur Springs.
Medical personnel from Williams responded, assisting with the security of the landing zone and communications with the air ambulance crew.
