For the last several days, the editorial page has had several letters attacking Randy Ridgel. I don”t know Randy, have never met him, but I feel like defending his point of view. To the liberals, it seems the old saying may apply, “The truth hurts” also, if what he says is so ridiculous, wouldn”t it just be ignored?
One day, maybe it was because of the stars lining up under the influence of the “Ides of March” but in any case, I couldn”t find anything in the letters to the editor that I disagreed with. Dogs, especially aggressive big ones, need to be controlled, not the fault of the dog but the responsibility of the handler. Ed Calkins, who I also don”t know was right on with his “Freedom or free stuff”. “The conservative mind” letter from Tim Snider didn”t really enlighten me much, but then I have a natural aversion to Big wigs in the modern University establishment. Craig Stankiewiez”s “Ineptocracy,” was also right on. The one that really prompted this letter was the “Population control” letter from “Guff” Worth, also a gentleman I don”t know. My wife said “this sounds like you could have wrote it, only better.” This issue has been one of my main concerns for the last 20-plus years. As I am most always perceived as a Republican, I am all for birth control, women”s rights and we certainly don”t have a people shortage. I am as opposed to the religious part of the right as I am to the liberal left and their gun control, socialized medicine and big government agenda.
