COBB — The service of a search warrant by the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) Narcotics Task Force and Major Crimes Unit resulted in three arrests, the recovery of stolen property, illegal weapons and marijuana.
According to LCSO Sgt. Steve Brooks, the department received information on March 4 that someone was attempting to sell property on Craigslist that was allegedly stolen during a burglary. The suspect was offering unique parts that were removed from a 1966 Toyota Land Cruiser.
Brooks said the Narcotics Task Force acted in an undercover capacity and called the telephone number listed on the ad to arrange a meeting for March 5 to view the items. During the conversation, the suspect, later identified as Robin Aire Slikkerveer, 56, of Cobb, provided his address. Brooks said surveillance was conducted of Slikkerveer”s residence and items from the Land Cruiser were allegedly observed in his front yard.
On March 5, narcotics detectives secured a search warrant for the person and home of Slikkerveer, according to Brooks. At 12:30 p.m., LCSO deputies, the Major Crimes Unit and Narcotics Task Force served the warrant at Slikkerveer”s residence on Grouse Road in Cobb.
When detectives entered the home, they detained Slikkerveer and Zachary Robin Slikkerveer, 25, of Cobb without incident, Brooks said. A short time later, detectives detained Johnathan Arie Slikkerveer, 30, of Cobb, who had shown up at the residence, according to Brooks.
Brooks said several items from the Toyota Land Cruiser were recovered during the service of the search warrant. Additionally, several firearms were allegedly recovered, including an AK-47 assault rifle with a large capacity magazine and a spent AT-4 rocket launcher tube.
According to Brooks, Slikkerveer stated a friend of his who was in the military had allegedly smuggled the rocket launcher back from Iraq and gave it to him.
Brooks alleged detectives located 220 marijuana plants in various stages of growth in the basement of the residence as well as a half-pound of processed marijuana, packaging materials and scales. None of the residents possessed medical recommendations for the marijuana, according to Brooks.
Slikkerveer was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property, illegal possession of an assault rifle and cultivation of marijuana. Johnathan Slikkerveer was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property. Zachary Slikkerveer was arrested on charges of cultivation of marijuana. All three were booked into the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
Brooks said the investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have information regarding this case is encouraged to contact LCSO at 262-4200.
