LAKEPORT — The Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) Tuesday adopted three proclamations.
One proclamation designated March 20 as National Agriculture Day the week of March 18 through 24 as National Agriculture Week. District 1 Supervisor Jim Comstock presented the proclamation to Annette Hopkins, co-president of the Lake County chapter of the California Women for Agriculture. Hopkins was joined by members of the agricultural community, including some 4-H club members.
The second proclamation designated March 18 through 24 as National Surveyors” Week. District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing presented the proclamation to County Surveyor Gordon Haggitt.
Haggitt thanked the BOS for recognizing the work of surveyors. He was joined by other surveyors, whom he thanked for “making my job one of the best in the county.”
A third proclamation, carried over from the March 13 BOS meeting, recognized and thanked the California Department of Fish and Game, U.S. Forest Service, Lakeport Police Department (LPD) and community volunteers for helping with the National Forest Grow-site Reclamation project. Rushing presented the proclamation to LPD Chief Brad Rasmussen.
Rushing said she was one of 34 volunteers who assisted in the cleanup of marijuana grow-sites within the Mendocino National Forest, adding that she was grateful for the presence of law enforcement for protecting the volunteers. Rasmussen said he was impressed with the volunteers. District 4 Supervisor Anthony Farrington thanked Rasmussen and the LPD for going beyond the call of duty.
