LAKEPORT — Vet Connect of Lake County celebrates its first birthday with a celebration that takes place during clinic hours, 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday upstairs at Umpqua Bank, located at 805 11th St. in Lakeport.
On March 16, 2011, Vet Connect of Lake County opened its doors for the first time. Its goal is to serve Lake County veterans who are homeless, at risk and underserved.
Lake County Vet Connect offers information, assistance and referrals for VA health care, veterans” benefits, counseling for veterans and their families, housing and employment counseling. Clinics take place from 9 a.m. to noon on the second Wednesday of each month at American Legion Post 437, 14770 Austin Road in Clearlake; and from 9 a.m. to noon on the third Wednesday of each month at Umpqua Bank in Lakeport. Coffee and doughnuts are provided. The atmosphere is casual and questions are encouraged.
All veterans and their families are welcome. Programs are sponsored by the United Veterans Council of Lake County.
