FORT BRAGG — On March 14, five members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 88 of Lake County, traveled to Fort Bragg to prepare a St. Patrick”s Day lunch for the U.S. Coast Guard personnel at Station Noyo River. Joining Flotilla 88 were five members from Flotilla 87 of Mendocino County.
Instead of the traditional corned beef and cabbage lunch, several tri-tip roasts were provided by the flotilla. Auxiliary chefs Dane Hayward, Gary Dromi and Dan Fish barbequed the tri-tip, Harry De Lope baked four loaves of bread, with Dan and wife Randa obtaining additional potato salad and the special sheet cake, which was contributed by the local Safeway. Flotilla 87 members Carolyn King, JoAnn Eaton-Kemp, Steve Nelson, Glenn Funk and Bob Garbi contributed additional food and soft drinks and performed the clean up.
This year was the 13th year that Flotilla 88 has prepared a St. Patrick”s Day lunch for Station Noyo River and it has become a tradition that the Coast Guard personnel look forward to each year. About 35 Coast Guard personnel and families enjoyed the lunch and they thanked the flotilla members for their efforts in providing lunch.
