LAKEPORT — The Clear Lake High School (CLHS) production of “Footloose” opens with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday and continues with performances at 7 p.m. March 30 and 31. A closing benefit performance takes place at 2 p.m. April 1.
“Footloose” is set in a small town where dancing has been banned until the “new kid in town,” Ren, played by Philip Leighton, challenges the system.
When the reverend”s rebellious daughter, Ariel, played by Finola Torres, sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend Chuck, played by Nathan Powers, tries to sabotage Ren”s reputation, with many of the local townspeople eager to believe the worst about Ren.
Featured vocalists Sierra Sexton, Faith Hornby, Abigail LaBar and Kim Asbury join a cast of 35 dancers and actors.
“Once again, we”re donating a large portion of the proceeds from this benefit performance to the Joshua Hansen Memorial Scholarship Fund for CLHS college-bound students excelling in the arts,” Director Kristy Weiss said. “I”m a big believer in teaching the students that it”s important to give back as we have been given to. It”s more than just putting on a show; it”s also ?paying it forward.””
Tickets cost $15 for reserved seating, $10 for general seating and $5 for students and seniors.
Sponsors and volunteers are still needed for the performance; contact Weiss at 263-7162, ext. 0, or Chris Frediani in the CLHS office at 262-3010.
