CLEARLAKE OAKS — Authorities are currently seeking information regarding the owner of two black pit bulls that allegedly attacked a man and his Pomeranian dog around 7:15 a.m. Monday in Clearlake Oaks.

According to Lake County Animal Control (LCAC) Director Bill Davidson, the victim was walking his dog near the intersection of Island Drive and Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks when two pit bulls allegedly charged and attacked him and his dog.

The dogs allegedly bit the man and knocked him down and then allegedly the dogs attacked the man”s Pomeranian dog breaking its jaw and its leg and puncturing its lung. The dog also sustained multiple bite wounds throughout her body and is currently at Wasson Memorial Veterinary Clinic in Lakeport. The little dog is in critical condition but is expected to recover.

Davidson said the owner of the pit bulls apparently provided the victim with false contact information. However, the victim provided the following description of the man: medium-build, white man, 5-feet 10-inches tall with two black pit bull dogs weighing approximately 30-to-40 pounds, possibly driving a green-colored Mitsubishi Montero with a possible license plate number of 5BGV640.

Recovery of the Pomeranian is expected to be costly and the victim is on a fixed-income. Anyone who would like to assist with the dog”s medical expenses may send their contributions directly to Wasson Memorial Veterinary Clinic at 3083 Highway 175, Lakeport, CA 95453.
