I have been reading about the United States Army sergeant who killed 17 Afghanistan citizens in some type of killing spree. People all over the world are trying to get him tried and convicted of these so-called killings.
I do not agree with the way he handled the situation, but you have to understand that unless you have been in a combat situation you will never know how this can affect your mental state.
This soldier and his family are suffering unimaginable stress and mental strain.
I am sure his military record after four tours of duty in combat zones has been a concern of all the people involved in his defense. Just think, there is no DNA, no crime scene evidence and he was defending his country in a land that is mostly hostile to American soldiers.
All you hear is try this American soldier quickly and execute him; never mind if he has suffered a traumatic brain injury. Let me remind you that we have a Major Hasan who shot up Fort Hood and caused a United States congresswoman a grave brain injury, ending her career while screaming Allah Akbar.
He still has not stood trial. The government has not made up its mind on whether he was insane. It is clear that the Muslim psychiatrist”s idea was to slay as many infidels as possible during his rampage at Fort Hood.
So let”s look at the facts. We have a real soldier who has served four tours of duty in combat. It appears that he cracked under stress and we are ready to execute him. The Muslim major murders 13 and wounds 29 of our own people and he still has not come to trial 2 ? years later.
Where is the justice? Keep this fact in mind before you make any decisions on how we should handle this situation.
