KELSEYVILLE — Sept. 29 marks the 20th anniversary of the Kelseyville Pear Festival.

Starting 20 years ago with only a few booths along Main Street, the festival celebrated the heritage of the community and the premium fruit grown in Lake County. Today, the entire Kelseyville downtown is filled with thousands of visitors enjoying a jam-packed day of fun.

The day starts with a country-style parade. Tractor and antique car displays, art exhibits, music, food, entertainment, a free quilt show, and a special area just for children fill the day.

New this year, the Lake County Horse Council will present “Renaissance of the Horse,” which will exhibit and demonstrate a multitude of horse breeds and disciplines.

Festivities begin on the evening of Sept. 28, with a barbecue dinner under the stars. The Konocti Fiddlers and Dave Stamey, cowboy singer, top off the evening. The event is held in the Courtyard of Wildhurst Tasting Room on Main Street, Kelseyville.

Sponsorship packages for 2012 are still available. There are many sponsorship levels for businesses and organizations to show support. For information about sponsorship packages, call the Festival information line, 279-9022 or Shirley Campbell, 279-4204.
