COBB — Southlake County Fire Protection District (SCFPD) responded to a fire in a single-family home in the Loch Lomond area Thursday morning. The resident was exited the home without injury.
SCFPD Battalion Chief Scott Upton said firefighters had almost immediate containment. Mop up activities continued for about an hour. Significant smoke damage but only minor structural damage was reported.
Units were dispatched at 4:43 a.m. to the 12400 block of Western Pine Road, with the first unit arriving on scene in about 10 minutes. The resident heard his fire alarm and was able to get out of the house safely.
“It could have been a much different situation if the resident was asleep and didn”t have a smoke alarm,” Upton said. “It”s good practice to keep your smoke alarm in good-working condition. This could have been a much different story without that.”
SLCFPD responded with a battalion chief, two engines, a rescue unit, a medical unit, water tender and 11 paid-call firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
